Description: The thin sac (membrane)
that surrounds the heart and the roots of
the great blood vessels - smooth, glistening
connective tissue with some vascularity.
It has no fibrous stations and has the appearance
of a continuos sheet of smooth membranous
tissue; somewhat pinkish in color. The width
(W) will be the smallest measurement and
the length (L) will be the longest measurement.
Measurements will have a tolerance of +/-
0.5 mm, with the exception of the largest
two sizes, where a +/- 5 mm tolerance will
be acceptable.
Common Surgical Applications: Pericardial
defect, dura matter repair, and periodontal
reconstruction
